Eastshore Alliance FC Weekend Recap: Mixed Results and Lessons Learned Across Teams

The weekend saw several Eastshore Alliance FC (EAFC) teams in action, delivering a combination of triumphs, tough losses, and key learning moments. Coaches reflected on the performances and growth displayed by their teams, with a strong focus on development over results.

2013B Orange Fight for 2-1 Win Over Newark Coach Rigo’s 2013B Orange team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Newark. Although the game lacked quality moments, there were a few bright spots. Rigo emphasized the importance of the boys' happiness and noted that they still have a lot of work ahead.

2010B APX Fall 4-1 to Ajax Modesto Coach Niall’s 2010B APX squad suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Ajax Modesto. Despite the loss, Niall saw plenty of positives, particularly in the team's link-up play and combinations. However, a lack of patience during the creation phase led to several transitions that proved costly. Niall remains optimistic, noting that with consistent focus, these issues can be addressed.

Close Matches for 2015B Navy and 2015G Orange Coach Bryan’s 2015B Navy team came up just short in a 2-0 defeat against Clippers, but the performance showed significant improvement compared to last season's 7-2 loss to the same opponent. In the afternoon, Bryan’s 15G Orange team lost 1-0 to Clippers, struggling with physicality and spatial awareness. He praised the girls for quickly applying new tactics learned just before the game.

2010B Orange Dominate in 7-2 Victory Coach Rueben's 2010B Orange team dominated possession and secured a 7-2 win against Bricena Actecs in Petaluma. The team excelled with combination plays and tactical overlaps, with standout performances from Alejandro in aerial duels.

Big Win for 2016B Orange Coach Cameron's 2016B Orange team kicked off their 7v7 season with a resounding 12-1 win against Piedmont. The boys played with physicality and a growing understanding of positioning, setting a positive tone for the season.

2007B APX Edge Walnut Creek in Heated Match Coach Mark’s 2007B APX team secured a gritty 2-1 win against Walnut Creek in ECNL RL league play. The game, described as highly physical, saw bizarre referee decisions and heated moments. Mark commended his team for not getting drawn into Walnut Creek's "nonsense" and maintaining their focus.

2012B Navy Sweep San Ramon in NPL Opener Coach Mason's 2012B Navy team opened their NPL season with a decisive 6-0 win over San Ramon. The team exploited San Ramon’s high defensive line, creating multiple through-ball opportunities. Mason praised the squad for their timed runs and strong performance on both sides of the field.

2015B Orange Secure 3-0 Win at Castro Valley Coach Bryan's 2015B Orange team overcame a slow start to defeat Castro Valley 3-0. After early miscues, the boys found their rhythm in the second half, with strong dribble penetration and cut-back crosses leading to a deserved victory.

2008G APX Learn in Tough 3-0 Loss to Palo Alto Coach John’s 2008G APX team faced a challenging 3-0 defeat to Palo Alto. Both teams prioritized possession, but Palo Alto’s better connections in the middle and speedy wing play proved decisive. John highlighted his team's progress in tactical combinations and possession, taking positives from the experience.

Heartbreak for 2015G Navy Against Mustang Coach Joe’s 2015G Navy team suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Mustang. Mistakes against a high press cost the team in the first half, though adjustments improved their second-half play. Despite hitting the woodwork three times, they couldn’t find an equalizer. Joe remains eager for a rematch.

Strong Wins for 2007B Orange and 2012G Navy Coach Mark's 2007B Orange team cruised to a 5-0 win over Oakland Soccer Club in State Premier League play, though Mark noted the opposition’s lack of quality. Meanwhile, Coach Sam's 2012G Navy team won their first 11v11 NPL game 2-0, showing progress in possession but needing to focus more on breaking the final defensive line deeper in the opponent’s half to create quality chances.

2010G APX and 2009B APX Start Strong in League Play Coach Wissem’s 2010G APX team opened their league campaign with a 1-0 win over Solano Surf, while his 2009B APX side defeated De Anza Force 2-0 in NPL 1. Both teams showed strong intentions to combine and progress forward.

2014G Teams Shine in 4-0 Wins Coach Dani’s 2014G Navy and Orange teams both enjoyed 4-0 victories over Alameda Islanders and Bay Oaks, respectively, with the players having a lot of fun in the process.

Coach Avery Impresses in First Games Coach Avery’s debut as an EAFC coach was marked by competitive performances from his 2016G Orange team. After a tight win against Alameda Islanders, they followed up with a dominant performance against Castro Valley. Director of Coaching Mason Webb expressed his admiration for the young team’s competitiveness.

As the season progresses, Eastshore Alliance FC teams continue to demonstrate growth and resilience. With a mix of wins, lessons, and development, the future looks bright for the club.
