Eastshore Alliance FC Teams Shine at San Diego Surf Cup
This past week, Eastshore Alliance FC showcased their talent and determination as two of their teams, the 2007B APX and 2009B APX, competed in the prestigious San Diego Surf Cup. Both teams delivered impressive performances, highlighting their skills and teamwork.
2009B APX Team's Impressive Run
The 2009B APX team played exceptionally well throughout the tournament. Coach Wissem praised the boys for their style of play, emphasizing their cohesive teamwork, diverse attacking strategies, and aggressive counter-pressing. The team started strong with a 2-1 victory against LA Surf, followed by a solid defensive effort in a 0-0 draw with El Dorado. They finished the showcase on a high note with a 2-0 win over Legends FC, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament.
Coach Wissem expressed his joy and pride in the team's performance, noting that the most important aspect was the fun and enjoyment the boys had. He also gave a special shoutout to Coach Mark and the 2007B APX team for their support.
2007B APX Team's Journey
Coach Mark's 2007B APX team had a challenging yet rewarding week, beginning with their participation in Nationals in Virginia. Despite facing adversity with two injured players and another suffering from heat exhaustion, the team fought hard but was eventually eliminated by a strong Wisconsin team with a 3-1 loss.
Undeterred, the 2007B APX team flew to San Diego to compete in the Surf Cup. With new reinforcements joining them from the second match onwards, the team made an impressive run to the finals. They faced a disciplined Del Mar 06 ECNL team in the final match, narrowly losing 0-1 after conceding a goal from a corner in the first half. Despite the loss, Coach Mark commended his team for controlling the ball and space well, even though they struggled to create scoring opportunities.
A highlight of the week for the 2007B APX team was their thrilling third match against Seattle United. In a late-game slot, the team secured a come-from-behind victory in a heated match with high energy and support from the sidelines, including enthusiastic cheers from the 2009B team.

Niall Irwin, Eastshore Alliance FC’s Director of Coaching, expressed his pride in the teams' performances, stating, "We are very proud of our boys for representing us in Southern California this past week at the prestigious San Diego Surf Cup.
